Earth Day may officially be April 22nd, but it might as well have been Earth Month! Our locations celebrated sustainability, community, and environmental action all April long. From Earth Fare’s 50th Anniversary, Ellwood Thompsons, and Tidal Creek Co-op in the southeast, La Montanita Co-op in the southwest, Ukiah and Ocean Beach People’s Co-ops in California, our natural foods retail partners threw vibrant events and giveaways promoting eco-conscious living across the country.

Let’s take a peek at how some of our locations celebrated!

Happy 50th Anniversary and Earth Day, Earth Fare!

Asheville, NC

While all Earth Fare locations throughout the Southeast celebrated their 50th Anniversary and Earth Day on April 19th, the original Asheville location threw the biggest party. In true WNC style, folks turned out for a gauntlet of festivities including a local vendor fair featuring artisans and jewelers, live bluegrass, local food trucks, beer garden, free food demos, giveaways, kids activities, birthday cake, an Easter egg hunt, and… free FreshPure® Waters!

“Happy Earth Day and 50th Anniversary to Earth Fare, a pillar of health in the community,” said Ramon Lovato, general manager of FreshPure® Waters. “Today more than ever, we are grateful for partners like Earth Fare who share in our vision of a healthier future for all.”

Peyton Revalee shares her experience offering FreshPure® Waters and encouraging folks to fill up their bottle with free water:

“It was heartwarming to see so many people care about our water and that we have made a positive impact on people’s lives. Many customers greatly appreciated the free water for February, and one customer said, “With already being in a stressful situation it was nice to not have to worry about getting water that we could trust”.

In addition, the event itself was filled with people who genuinely take their health seriously and I think that it is truly amazing that our water gets to be a part of their healthy lifestyles.”

Earth Fare has led the way in offering families across the southeast clean, organic foods free of artificial additives, while supporting sustainable food production methods that support the environment since 1975.

Laurie Aker, Earth Fare’s Marketing Director shares, “We can’t thank the communities we serve enough for coming out to celebrate this milestone! 50 years of helping people live healthy lives is such an honor and we look forward to 50 more! This event brought together our team members, community partners, and our customers for a fun filled day of education, delicious samples, and to celebrate fond memories and Mother Earth. Earth Fare’s 50th anniversary was everything we expected, and more!”

Thank you, Earth Fare, for leading the way!

Ukiah Coop is phasing out all single use plastic bottles!

Ukiah, CA

Ukiah Co-op is taking the bold step toward a greener future of phasing out single-use plastic bottles this month. How are they doing it? Not only do they offer FreshPure® Waters for bulk water refills, but customers may also refill their small personal water bottles for free.

We commend your generosity and foresight, Ukiah Coop! Side note: Ukiah Coop boosts one of the most beautiful bulk foods sections anywhere.

EarthFest at La Montanita Co-op

Albuquerque, New Mexico

La Montanita customers were invited to celebrate sustainability, community, and local food at EarthFest on April 13th! This annual event is all about honoring our planet and the people who care for it, with fun, learning, and live entertainment! The coop also offered 22% off all bulk items, seeds, and local houseplants. No worries if you missed it – catch Earth Fest next year!

Tuesday Evening Farmer’s Market Earth Day Kickoff at Tidal Creek Co-op

Wilmington, NC

Tidal Creek hosts the Wilmington Farmers Market every Saturday. This year, Earth Day marked the Tuesday Evening Market Kickoff! While this high-quality, producer-only market features fresh, seasonal produce, meats, eggs, and more, all sourced directly from local farmers and artisans, they went all out for Earth Day, featuring local eco-friendly vendors, educational organizations, live music, raffles, sunset yoga, and food, fostering a lively atmosphere of environmental awareness and community engagement. Through these markets, Tidal Creek Co-op continues to support local farmers, promote sustainable practices, and provide the Wilmington community with access to fresh, locally sourced foods.

Green Giveaways

Finally, a whole swarm of Co-ops gave away green items to support and encourage a sustainable way of life. From canvas tote bags at Ellwood Thompson’s in Virginia, to bicycles at Ocean Beach People’s Coop, to reusable water bottles and of course FreshPure® Waters Reverse Osmosis at Earth Fare.

We’re so impressed with our retail partners’ sustainability initiatives. We know we’re preaching to the choir, but we sincerely hope these amazing stores reinvigorate your environmentally conscious lifestyle.

As you may know, it’s been Earth Day every day since 1991 here at FreshPure® Waters! So, bring your bottle, fill it up, and repeat to help us save over 640 MILLION single-use plastic bottles per year. Learn more about our Water Restoration projects here. And Happy 50th Birthday Earth Fare!
