WaterNeutral: Reducing Our Environmental Footprint

We have partnered with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), an organization dedicated to restoring freshwater ecosystems and catalyzing a renewable energy future, to offset the environmental impact of our operations.
Offsetting Carbon Emissions: How WaterNeutral is supporting renewable energy
As part of our commitment to carbon neutrality, we have collaborated with BEF on the Parque Eolico Maldonado project. This project is helping Uruguay reach its wind energy potential, making significant strides in the renewable energy sector. By supporting the installation of 25 turbines with a total capacity of 50 MW, we are actively displacing over 100 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually. This collaboration enables us to contribute to the global fight against climate change while promoting the transition to clean, renewable energy sources.
Restoring Freshwater Ecosystems: How WaterNeutral is making an impact.
FreshPure Waters understands that protecting water resources goes beyond offsetting carbon emissions. We have initiated several impactful projects in collaboration with BEF to restore and protect freshwater ecosystems. These projects serve as examples of our commitment to the environment:
- San Pedro River – Tucson, AZ: The San Pedro River is of great ecological importance, but it suffers from chronic low flows caused by excessive groundwater pumping. To address this issue, we have partnered with local ranchers to explore innovative approaches to reduce groundwater extraction and bolster flows, thereby supporting the river’s vegetation and providing vital habitats for fish and wildlife.
- Verde River – North Central Arizona: The Verde River and its tributaries are crucial desert resources, supplying a significant portion of surface water for the metro Phoenix area. Through collaborative efforts with farmers and conservationists, we are implementing the Tres Brisas irrigation modernization project. This project aims to enhance ranch productivity, reduce on-farm water use, and benefit the Verde River and its diverse ecosystem.
- Foster Meadow Habitat – Sierra Nevadas: Nestled in the Sierra Nevadas, Foster Meadow is a small yet diverse meadow ecosystem. Over the years, it has faced challenges such as altered hydrology and intensive human activities. Through our restoration efforts, we are reintroducing native soils, promoting habitat diversity, and improving water flow. These measures will enhance the overall health of the meadow, improve water quality, and create habitats for aquatic and terrestrial species.
